Disability Discrimination Act is the aim to end Discrimination that many people with Disabilities face. The Disability Discrimination Act came into force in 2004 and relates to the built environment and places duty of care upon service providers to ensure reasonable adjustments to the physical features of their premises are made to overcome physical barriers to access.

 

The Disability Discrimination Act applies with regard to the built environment and places duty of care upon service providers to make certain practical modifications to the physical functions and features of their properties are designed to alleviate physical obstacles to access. It is applicable to everybody who supplies services to the community regardless of their size.

 

Rules and regulations determine the definition of “physical features” to incorporate anything at all located on the property as a result of the buildings construction, or from an approach to, exit from or access to the property:
